Winter Antonio Fernandez Belez, 36, crys as he sits in his home outside Sushufindi. He lived most of his life with wife and daughter near deposit 17, a Texaco facility and would drink the water and fish in the river that ran near the facility. He slowly became ill until at the age of 33 he had to have surgery and lost his ability to speak. He now often hurts himself due to his inability to walk and spends most of his days crying and watching cartoons. His wife at the time, who was ill herself, could no longer look after him and dumped him into the hands of his father. He still has to make frequent hospital visits for heart problems.
