Mercedes Cueva breaks down as she recalls her devastating past living in front of Station Sur for 30 years, a facility where Texaco operated. Her oldest of 6 sons, Angel Cueva, 51, lived 18 years of his life as a normal child, speaking and walking fine. He is now confined to a wheel chair, cannot move his limbs and can no longer speak. Mercedes recalls when they would use bombs discover oil and it would pour onto her property. After her husband dies 27 years ago, she’s been left stricken by poverty trying to fend for her many children. She spends most of her days looking after Angel, who cannot take care of himself. She said she’s “waiting to see who dies first him or me.”
