Nataly Tabiolo Alban Eras,14,sits outside her home in Taracoa while her mother Marlene Aide Eras Moncado begins to prepare the family dinner. Nataly who suffers from heart deficiency and cleft lip, was also born without a collarbone. Her mother says these are all problems the evolved while Nataly was in the womb. Marlene, who’s lived her whole life in Taracoa, recalls drinking the contaminated water and eating the meat from animals that where in direct contact with the crude pits the surround the colonial village of mainly farmers. Nataly needs a medial treatment, which the family cannot afford.
