"THE CHAIN GANG, POLITICS AND PUNISHMENT"
The USA has 2,3 million people locked up in different kinds of prisons. It is approximately 0,3 % of the country’s population, which is regardes as the highest in the world. In addition to this there are approximately 5 million that have some kind of sentence and/or are free on parole. This means that more than 7 million americans are under the supervision and control of the Prison authorities.
