Those living in Chester, Pa., grow up in an environment where forces everywhere are against them; gravity seems to be stronger there and less forgiving. The town of around 40,000 faces many crises, including one of the worst public school systems in the state, extreme levels of pollution that have caused overwhelming illness and death, a poverty rate of 25% and an high unemployment rate, both three times the national average, and a staggering murder rate seven times the national average. People are forced into carrying this burden of weight and thus are required to be strong to withstand it.

A group of local residents pray in front of the home of a women who was shot by a stray bullet in the William Penn housing project. The group, lead by one of the out-raged family members of Stewart, organized a daily walk around the project for seven straight days in protest of the violence. The William Penn is notorious for being one of the most violent projects in the city and prior to this incident, according to residents, over a half dozen people had been shot in the last few months.
