"LEAVING OLD ORDER AMISH – FACING FACEBOOK AND A MODERN LIFE"

David Mast and his family has been on the inside of the old order amish their hole life. Two years ago they decided to leave the "old" life with strict religious rules and start tasting the modern American life. Slowly using cars, electricity and internet in their daily life. If you leave the Amish - you are on your own -no members on the inside can eat or sleep under same roof- like his brothers and sisters that are still on the inside. Noe social contact and help are given the outcasts.

David an his brother John are still "brothers " but living in two worlds divided by a mile down the road where the the family farm are. A place where they jused to live together on running the farmland the old way. The two brothers are still deep religious on each side . David have keep some traditional clothing and style living in the settlement Arthur in Illinois. US.

None of the families are rich - John Mast as a farmer without electrical tools, waring homemade clothes , making Oak sirup on open fire and drive horse & buggy . On the other side David Mast as a carpenter , housing his six children and wife in an old kitchen cabinet factory , driving his used car , buying 2.hand clothes for his kids and are online with a profile on the Facebook. David has just taken the step into the New world with curies open eyes. But still have his mind and hart in the amish culture- missing contact with his "old family". His mother and 8 other brothers and sisters are still Old Order Amish. Jo mast - Davids younger brother has also left and together with other people from the Arthur area they have started a new church - for the amish people that has left the 12 Bishops and the old fashion rules that runs the Old Order Amish people in the region. It is not easy to leave- and stay i the area at the same time- the prize leaving are high- and he way back is closed.
