An ice fish retrieved from a depth of 1148 feet (350 meters), and photographed in an aquarium. Ice fish have evolved adaptions to polar waters. They are able to survive in the freezing, ice-laden waters of the Southern Ocean because of the presence of an antifreeze in their blood. They also have no hemoglobin.
