"Refugees From Fallujah" Seda Bahar of Fallujah, 75, weeps as she waits to enter Fallujah on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at a checkpoint at the entrance to Fallujah, Iraq. The bloodshed at Fallujah took a dramatic turn for the worse in early April 2004, after Marines launched an offensive operation there after the grisly ambush of four American civilian contractors' bodies were mutilated. Many residents fled the fierce clashes between U.S. Marines and Iraqi insurgents in Fallujah. Soon after though, in fear of looters the residents tried to go back to their homes, only to be turned back by U.S. military who limited the amount of residents going back.
