Christelle Birdy, 10, says goodbye to her mother, who lives several hours away, before Christelle leaves Haiti to fly to the United States with her adoptive father, David Birdy, of San Antonio. Christelle, whose mother brought her to the orphanage over a year ago, was in the process of being adopted by the Birdy family before the earthquake and was brought to San Antonio on Humanitarian Parole in March. Christelle has a brother living in the United States who was adopted before the earthquake.
