"Disengaging from Gaza"

"Fallen Sun"
As the sun sets, Jewish settlers gather together for
a final evening prayer service, prior to the commencement of Israel's pullout
from the Gaza Strip on August 14, 2005 in the Jewish settlement of Shirat
Hayam. On August 15, 2005 the Israeli army began evacuating Israeli
settlers from their homes in the Gush Katif bloc of settlements. This photo
story testifies to the varied emotional landscape that was exhibited as the
settler community, through tears and anguish, abandoned their homes during
the Disengagement process.
