"Cheer Squad"
The fog had rolled in and the community had shut
down. It was Friday night in Vernonia. Tucked up in the top of the stands at
the football field, the band made its way through the Star Spangled Banner.
Then came a familiar chant, but from an unfamiliar source. "We are the
Loggers, mighty mighty Loggers..." With student-athletes turning out
for other activities, the school was left without a cheerleading squad for
football. Yet, Friday nights in Vernonia still has it all - thanks to a group
of 7-year-olds.
