Vanessa White spends some quiet time with her family during the final days in their home in Lindytown, WV. Vanessa was born and raised in this town and wanted to raise her children here. But Massey Energy, the coal company who owns the mountaintop removal mine site in front of their home, bought nearly the entire town out to make way for their mine. At first she wasn't going to sell, because she nor her three children wanted to move, but decided it would be best to leave as the blasting and the dust that comes down from the mountain was getting to be too much. She says that sometimes the blasts are so hard that they knock pictures off of her wall.
