"Terror in Madrid" On March 11th, 2004, international terror struck Europe. Four trains filled with commuters on their way to work exploded killing 171 people and wounding many more. At first, investigators and the government blamed the Basque separatist group ETA, but the blame was eventually place on an Al Queda terror cell. The Chilean immigrant Angelica Manuel (middle) lost her husband in the bombings, and two days later she laid him to rest in one of the city's chapels. Spanish President Jose Maria Aznar lost his bid for re-election only days after the terror bombing. Many voters believed Aznar blamed ETA knowing that Al Queda may have been to blame.
