"Dying" Shaun Deen, 15, was "just riding around" when he passed the remains of downtown Trent on his lawnmower Tuesday. Census 2000 figures show that Trent lost only one person in the last 10 years, but like many small towns, it has stagnated and begun to decay. Only a bank, the post office and city hall (open part-time) remain in the downtown area.
