The only road to the Bulgarian village of Kosovo some 100km west from the capital Sofia. Most of the roads who lead to small villages in Bulgaria are in very heavy conditions.There are villages which is impossible to reach due to the bad roads. In the early 2000s, Bulgaria had some 37,300 kilometers of roads, all but 3,000 of which were paved but nearly half of which (18,000 kilometers) fell into the lowest international rating for paved roads.Today according to the official information Bulgaria has in total 44,033 km of roads, from which paved are 43,593 km (99%),unpaved: 440 km (1%) and just motorways: 459 km (2008).
