Bert Fox, illustrations editor, National Geographic magazine. Fox joined the National Geographic Magazine staff as an illustrations editor in August 1996. Previously, he spent 14 years at the Philadelphia Inquirer as art director and picture editor for the newspaper's Sunday Magazine, as well as picture editor for the Sunday newspaper. While working with the Sunday Magazine, Fox was named POY's Picture Editor of the Year four times, and he won "Best Use of Pictures" twice. While working for the Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune he also was named Picture Editor of the Year. Fox edited and designed "Outside the Dream," a photojournalism book about child poverty in American by Stephen Shames. In addition, he edited two "Day in the Life" books, one about Israel and the other about Thailand. Fox is a member of the Eddie Adams Workshop board of directors and teaches at the Maine Photographic Workshops and at the Anderson Ranch Arts Program.
