"Adrift after newtown"

Madeline O'Neill watches her sister Jackie Barden break down at the Blue Colony Diner in Newtown, CT on May 23, 2013.  Barden had just remembered that the last time she'd been to this restaurant, it was with her now-deceased son Daniel last Halloween.  Daniel, along with 20 other school children, were killed in the Newtown massacre last December.  For surviving family members like the Bardens, their feels a raw, unplanned and grieving is far from over.   Around town, even in this restaurant, there are notes of condolences and daily reminders of a monumental tragedy that forever changed their lives.
